When I started making this book, I decided to alter the medium that I have been using and go for a textured look. I was surprised at how wonderful it worked. The outside of the book is very hard textured & rough. It is made from a 11 x 10 inch binder. It comes with 30 stained pages and because it is a binder, you can add more pages.
The inside is painted black, with the inside front flap decorated as a dedication page. On the top of the dedication page is a feather that came from a bird that is going extinct, the man at the farm where the feather came from is raising them and attempting to breed them in captivity (I think this is going well, since he has a little chick from them) I don't know the name of the bird, my grandsons got the feathers for me when they were working there. It is a special feather though, and has a great energy to it. I included it because it is of the Air Element and will inspire great creativity.
The first page is decorated, it is a book blessing, the bark is from a pine tree, the tree is very large & very old, it stands at the base of the hill where the Yuma Territory Prison is, and this tree has seen allot. I visit it often, and always find peace & tranquility when I am near it, so I included the bark to aid you in finding a calm & easy path when working with this book.
The pictures were taken by my daughter-n-law, and the color is off slightly. The outside is black with a aquamarine overlay. The peacock feather is much more colorful than the pic's show, it is not real, it is colored with blues & greens & purple, and glitter, the stone on it it a glittering faux-emerald. I was very pleased at how it came out. The pages are all stained with coffee, which created an interesting pattern of lines and color.
The color on the herbs page is off, but it is the best I can do for now, I have included a variety of herbs, as well as a sage stick. Everything you need to Cleanse and dedicate the BoS, and a few more things as well. I decided to make a BoS designed for the more experienced witch, so the usual info has been left out in favor of spells and art. I have done a few pages with collages, and left the rest plain (they are stained though) for the new owner to decorate as they wish. I personally think this is my best Book of Shadows yet.
Included:
Herbs included: Rosebuds for a Ritual Bath, Bay Leaves for prosperity, Cinnamon, Ginger, Eucalyptus Leaves, Rosemary, and Spearmint Leaves
Spell Bag: A large green bag with a solid bottom that stand alone, and a small green bag. Both bags have draw strings.
Altar Blessing Oil: I included a bottle of my altar blessing oil so that you have everything you need to bless this book.
Incense: I included some Rose and Lavender
Items: I also included a few items that you can use to decorate pages with. These are to get you started with designing your new Book of Shadows.
Pages: There are 24 pages, They are all stained with a coffee mixture and crinkled. They came out a wonderful color & texture, with an old look to them. The coffee created a nice coloring and a darker pattern of lines across the pages. I have decorated 5 of the pages, The first is a Book Blessing, the 2nd is Book of Shadows cover page, 3rd is a Protection Spell and the 4th & 5th are the Herbal & Items pages with labeled baggies. The remainder of the pages are left blank so that you can create your own personalized pages. I will also include instructions on how to stain you own pages, so that you can stain any additional pages you wish to add to your book.
<Note: If you want information or other pages (Wiccan Rede, Three Fold Law of Return, Blessings, etc) to add to your Book of Shadows I will have packages listed>
